Hi, I’m Xanthe Blaise. I’m an actor, model, voice-over artist and performer in Melbourne.

Acting is in my blood; I come from a performing arts family across acting, writing and production. There is nothing that thrills me more than this art form. Every show I have been in has been so different; the more varied, the more excited I am.

The art of acting – to create a different person, to immerse myself in another human’s truth and to transfix an audience with storytelling – is magic. Every character that I play, and the process of creating that character, teaches me something about myself. I always walk away at the end of it knowing more.

I began performing in high school. My first role was the general’s daughter in The Pirates of Penzance, and my love of acting grew from there. Each year I auditioned, I kept getting bigger roles until I got a lead. Every performance was the highlight of my year and it was devastating every time it was over. Acting was a big reason why I stayed in school.

A recent stage appearance was ‘WHAT OF IT?’, a brilliant piece of writing by Rebecca Fingher. I played Cory; a brash, dominant bully. It was an absolute privilege to be on stage with two accomplished actors, and to be witness to their extraordinary skill.

I love high energy, non-naturalistic, comedic theatre. I also love kitchen-sink theatre; crafting private, intimate moments for the audience so that they feel like they shouldn’t be in the room.

To me, being an actor is very much being an observer of life. I often discover insights about a character I am playing when I am most present in my daily life, whether it’s while I’m walking, people-watching, or in conversation with someone. There are many parallels between maturing as an actor and maturing as a person, and I’m looking forward to seeing this symbiotic growth continue.
